A couple weeks ago I was invited to the Media Preview of Goodwill of the Southern Piedmont's new concept boutique and let me tell you, it was FABULOUS! This is NOT the Goodwill you are used to - no! This is the new, "GW Boutique." The store is laid out with a nice array of tables, racks and shelving. Jewelry sparkles on it's display pieces and fun metallic poufs, along with other chic homegoods are carefully peppered around the store. I went around 10am, one to miss the traffic and two, to miss the early flurry of news reporters and photographers. It ended up to be the PERFECT timing, because while some of the great goodies may have been snapped up already, there was still PLENTY of fun stuff to score. And score I did! I also met some fabulous other bloggers and media folks...more on that in the coming weeks. So, back to the scores! I ended up spending around $60, if memory serves, and got six items! I debuted them on my Instagram account here. I found: a pair of camo shorts for $3.99, a white LOFT tank top with the cutest tortoise-shell embelleshments on the strapsalso for $3.99 (*stylist tip: when buying white anything or a staple item, buy one with a special detail to make it stand out from the rest), a turquoise and coral boutique dress with flowy arms and lace detail, a black & white checked fedora and scarf with a bicycle print(!), both for $3.99, a fun orange-printed Michael Kors tunic top for $12.99 AND a Lily Pulitzer green & navy skirt wrap A-line skirt for $8.99. HOORAY! I had my eye on a couple other items, but just couldn't swing all of it that day..MUST. GO. BACK!
Also, random sidenote - did you guys know that Goodwill also has an ELECTRONICS store??? YES! It's in the University area and I plan to check it out this weekend because I'm in terrible need of a new computer. I bought a Microsoft Surface Pro 2 several years ago when I went back to school and needed an additional computer with Office to do papers, etc. I researched and found tons of favorable reviews, lots of which said they liked the product better than their Apples. Hm...well, mine has sadly turned out to be a lemon. It's been nothing but trouble and with my recent switch to the SquareSpace platform, my glitches have only increased. I'll let you know what I find!
One more random tip for you: you can shop Goodwill online! Not every store participates, but you can search through the ones that do and find some GREAT stuff, y'all. I'm not kidding, I'm currently bidding on an orange Tory Burch bag (WHAAAT!)! Oh yeah, it operates like Ebay, where you bid on things, which actually kinda makes it more fun, don'tcha think? Try entering different spellings of designer names if you are searching for a particular item, as some of the people doing the data entering may not be as familiar with these names as we are. #yourewelcome
