It's sandal-wearing time and I'm sharing the five ESSENTIALS you need in your life. These are the ones you'll reach for again and again and wear out by the end of summer! In next week's Friday Five, we'll talk about special occasion sandals, but first.... let's hit the basics.
First, I chose a flat neutral sandal. I literally wore OUT my neutral flats from Loft and recently replaced them with my dream sandal, the Tory Burch Miller. They are taking a minute to break in (I have narrow feet) but per the nice gal at Nordstrom, they will fit to mold your feet over time. Sold.
Next up is one of this season's hottest shoes: the espadrille loafer. These are so versatile, they can be paired with jeans, short or a dress. I have the Soludos below in the black winky face AND the linen lime and coconut and have already been wearing them to death (seen here last). A closed shoe is good to have for times when you don't want to get your feet dirty (aka the subway or any other grimy place) or when you need a bit more "grip" - stepping onto that boat (currently ISO a friend with boat...applicants can email me directly!).
A heeled sandal, like the Nine West snake print below, is perfect for date night, dinner with the girls or that all important business lunch when you want to show off your style (be brave and pair your heeled sandals with a black suit for a look that undoubtedly says, "Girl Boss").
Lace up or gladiator-style sandals have been popular for several seasons now. I have a pair from Nine West that I've literally been wearing for five years now and they are still fabulous! These will take you from the farmers market to daycare pickup to casual days when you need something more put together than a flip-flop (which should really only be worn at the beach or coming from a pedicure, but don't get me started on that!).
Finally, I believe every woman needs what I call an "everyday wedge" - see my faves here. Whether this is your go-to favorite pair of Toms, the new Chloe platform wedge that is currently all over Instagram or the ever-popular Michael Kors style below. Just make sure they are comfy enough to walk around in all day (or several hours, if need be). Wedges are also a great choice if you aren't that comfortable in heels and need a bit more stability (say, a garden tour, golf tournament or even the soccer field sidelines).
And while athleisure IS a thing and yes, I have a great pair of black sneakers I wear with leather leggings, LADIES PLEASE take my advice and highlight those pedicures with the sandals they deserve!
